Boston Family Days

Franklin Park Zoo proudly participates in the City of Boston’s “Boston Family Days” program, offering students and their families meaningful opportunities to spark curiosity, connect with the natural world and create lasting memories.

Beginning in January 2025, on the first and second Sunday of each month from January 2025 to December 2026, Franklin Park Zoo will offer free admission for every student living in Boston enrolled in grades K-12 or Boston Pre-K and two of their family members. 

Who is eligible?
This program is for all Boston students enrolled in grades K-12 or in Boston Pre-K (formerly known as UPK). Students must be Boston residents. This includes students enrolled in Boston Public Schools, independent charter schools, METCO, and Boston based parochial and independent schools. Students who live in Boston but attend K-12 school outside of Boston are eligible to participate.

Who is not eligible?
This program is just for Boston residents. Students who do not live in Boston, but attend a Boston based parochial and independent school are not eligible to participate.

How many family members can students bring?
Students can bring two family members with them on Boston Family Days.

How do families sign up to participate in Boston Family Days?
BPS families will be automatically enrolled and do not need to take any further action. If not enrolled in BPS, families must sign up for the program with the City. The registration portal will launch later in December 2024. After signing up, families will receive their Boston Family Days pass via email, which is the student's personal entry pass and cannot be transferred to another person. 

Do BPS Families need to register to participate in Boston Family days?
No, BPS families will be automatically signed up for this program. Families will continue to receive their Boston Family Days pass directly via BPS.

Can families sign up for Boston Family Days on site at Franklin Park Zoo?
Yes, the registration portal is online (launching later in December 2024) and families can sign up quickly while at the Zoo. Once you have completed the sign up process you can show your Boston Family Day pass directly to our Admissions staff.

Do all students require adult accompaniment?
Students ages 16 and older do not require an adult to accompany them.

Can I use my Boston Family Days pass at Stone Zoo?
No, this pass may only be used at Franklin Park Zoo.

Can I use my pass for evening events like Boston Lights?
No. This pass can only be used for daytime general admission. It cannot be applied to the evening Boston Lights or other evening events.
